Questa mappa non s’ha da fare. Cartoline dal Dircefoglio dell’Estate 2018
Dear Traveller,
You take delight not in a city’s seven or seventy wonders, but in the answer it gives to a question of yours, so says Italo Calvino in his ‘Invisible Cities’. Which questions can be answered by a trip to Italy, the land ‘where lemons bloom’? Maybe not the ultimate question to life, the universe and everything. But still: what about enjoying a ‘mezza granita di caffè con panna’ (which, by the way, is a perfect hendecasyllable) or a cream ‘bombolone’ at an open-air café? Or what about tasting a homemade ‘nocino’ (walnut liqueur) in a local ‘trattoria’ prepared using walnuts’ husks picked on the night of St. John, the ‘witches’ night’? Or the most subtle pleasures of all: reading a copy of DirceFoglio on a lazy Sunday afternoon on the beach with the fading voice of the coconut seller going “coccobello cocco!”. Have a wonderful Summer wherever you are.
